ZeroSpyware 2005 Anti-spyware ProgramProvided By: fbmsoftware A few years ago, our biggest worry about going online was catching a virus. Nowadays, in addition to viruses, our computers have to also worry about another growing threat – spyware. Not only is spyware annoying, but it also poses a big threat to your privacy. Whereas a computer virus only affects your computer, certain spyware can potentially affect your entire livelihood. Luckily there are plenty of anti-spyware programs available. Unfortunately, there is no industrial standard for spyware protection and as a result, the performance and effectiveness of each program varies. While some anti-spyware programs are free, others are not – such as ZeroSpyware 2005 by FBM. Just what does ZeroSpyware 2005 offer over the competition? Should you consider paying for spyware protection? Read on and find out. Features: As with any anti-spyware program, ZeroSpyware 2005 is able to perform a spyware scan on your computer for any process, cookie, registry entry, and file spyware component that is already on your system. Scans can be initiated manually or by setting up scanning schedules. You can also choose which drives you would like scanned and which you do not.
ZeroSpyware features spyware prevention to prevent any new spyware from infecting your system by catching them in real-time. It will protect sensitive segments of the OS and web browser from being changed by spyware. Things that are protected include the Windows HOSTS file, certain .INI files, the Run/Run Once/Startup program groups, your browser's Home page, Search page, Favorites, and Layered Service Provider Stack. It can monitor your system and alert you whenever there is an attempt to change any of those items (i.e, if something is trying to change your browser's homepage). ZeroSpyware 2005 also has Browser Plug-in Management. It can monitor installation of Browser Helper Objects (BHOs, or Browser plug-ins). Whenever a new BHO is trying to be added to your browser, ZeroSpyware will alert you of it and give you the option to allow or deny the BHO. Auto-blocking settings can be setup to block certain types of BHOs. This is a key function to preventing browser hijacking.
Beyond spyware scans and preventions, the ZeroSpyware 2005 is also able to perform a Vulnerability Assessment of your system (something no other anti-spyware program can do, according to FBM). A Vulnerability Assessment scan will check your system for any critical system vulnerabilities. It will check versions of all vulnerable OS files, browsers, and other supported applications to see if they are updated for the best anti-spyware protection. After the scan, all detected vulnerabilities are listed, and links to their respective program's updates are available right within ZeroSpyware 2005's interface. Like spyware scanning, schedules can be setup for vulnerability scans.
All the above mentioned features of ZeroSpyware 2005 are mighty nice, perhaps the area that this program shines the most is support. ZeroSpyware features an Extreme Support live chat feature that allows you to have a live chat session with an actual live representative anytime (24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year) for free (well, you are paying for the program annually). The representative will answer any technical, sales, or product support question you may have. That sure beats stale Q&A and FAQ pages.
In addition to the Extreme Support live chat, ZeroSpyware 2005 also features Remote Restore live chat feature. In the cases where a spyware problem simply cannot be resolved; whether it is because the spyware regenerates, changes, lack of knowledge on the user's end, crash problems in the OS, or problems requiring constant safe mode reboots; you can have a live chat with a live Remote Restore representative who will help you find the problem and eliminate it. Lastly, every time ZeroSpyware starts up, it will check to see if there are any updates available. |
